Breast Lift With Implants

BREAST LIFT WITH IMPLANTS

A Harmonious Fusion of Lift and Volume

Breast augmentation with a lift is a procedure that elevates the nipple and areolar complex, while enhances breast volume with placement of an implant or fat grafting. This restores a youthful and volumized appearance to the breast.

For patients with ptosis (sagging breasts and/or nipples) in addition to volume deficiency, combining breast augmentation with either implants or fat grafting along with a lift procedure can achieve both ideal shape and volume.

Similar incision patterns for breast lift (mastopexy) are used. Additional breast volume and projection can be achieved with implants or fat grafting done in the same procedure.

Consult your surgeon if this procedure is right for you.

Common Questions

Am I a candidate for breast augmentation?: Overall healthy females, 18 years of age, and older with minimal breast ptosis are considered good candidates for breast augmentation.

What types of implants are used?: Saline or silicone breast implants are placed above or below the chest muscles (pectoralis muscle). Our surgeons will review the advantages of each type of implant, to help you determine what is right for you.

Where are incisions placed?: The incision is typically few cm long and camouflaged into the inframammary crease (hidden within the fold underneath your breast) or the periareolar area (hidden at the junction of your pigmented areolar skin and breast skin).

How is the size of implants selected?: The best way to determine what size implants will give you the result you want is to come for an in-person consultation. During this consultation you will undergo a detailed sizing process, which involves trialing various implant sizers, and applying measurements of your breast and chest area to formulate an individualized surgical plan between you and your surgeon.

What will my recovery feel like?: Recovery following breast augmentation is well tolerated. After waking up from surgery, you can expect chest soreness and the sensation of heaviness across the chest, but this will typically resolve within 24-48 hours. You may need only acetaminophen to manage the discomfort after 24 hours. Certain movements such as pulling or pushing as well as strenuous activity or heavy lifting should be avoided until you are cleared for increased activity by your surgeon.

What are the long-term effects of breast augmentation?: Breast implants are not considered lifetime devices but do not have an expiration date. They are, however, quite durable and well sustained with low rates of rupture or implant failure. However, some issues may arise including capsular contracture (excess scar tissue forms around implant) or implant position change that may require revision surgery. The other common reason for re-operation is to increase the size of the implant. Women who choose breast augmentation are highly satisfied with their choice to undergo this procedure.

The current recommendation by the FDA and implant manufacturers is to evaluate silicone breast implants with a breast MRI or ultrasound 5-6 years after implantation, and then every 2-3 years for the life of the implant.
