Lip Lift

Revatalize Your Look

The Lip Lift is a procedure that elevates the upper lip, shaping a more youthful and healthy appearance to the upper lip. It can be combined with other lip enhancements such as fat transfer or filler.

A Lip Lift is a small procedure that can be performed in-office with local anesthesia, with gentle sedation, or under general anesthesia. It is designed to elevate and evert the upper lip, which improves the curl and exposure of the ‘red lip’. As we age, the upper lip gets longer leading to a droopy, tired appearance. Though lip filler may temporarily provide some improvement, over time the filler will only weigh down the lip making the problem worse. The lip lift can subtly shorten the distance between the nose and mouth to provide a more youthful, fuller, balanced lip. In younger patients, a long upper lip to nose distance with, with thin ‘red lip’ show may just be hereditary and a lip lift can be helpful. It is very common for the lip lift to be performed in conjunction with other procedures such as lip filler, fat transfer to the lip, facelift, and other facial procedures. Specialized Plastic Surgery can help you achieve a plump and more youthful appearance to your lips, while avoiding the overinflated, fake, ‘duck lip’ appearance.

Where is the Incision Placed for a Lip Lift?

The Lip Lift incision is designed within the crease under the nose, allowing for a less visible incision. A strip of skin is removed, allowing the upper lip to be everted, and the distance from the skin to the nose shortened. We implement various techniques to minimize scar and provide longevity to your improved lip shape.

How Long do the Results Last?

The results of a lip lift are permanent. However, your lips and face will continue to mature as the normal aging process continues.

What is Recovery Like After a Lip Lift?

After the procedure, your upper lip will feel sore and swollen. Swelling typically gets worse and then subsides 3 days after your procedure. This is expected and is a normal part of healing. The initial healing period is generally 2-3 weeks. As with all healing, your results settle in around 2-3 months post procedure, and fading and softening of scars continue improving with time, sometimes up to a year and beyond.
